Deck overview

This deck is a high-power mono-black stax and attrition list helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan focuses on rapid mana development using artifacts and rituals to deploy Tergrid ahead of curve, immediately followed by symmetrical sacrifice and discard spells. Once Tergrid is operational, spells such as Dark Deal, Pox, and Plaguecrafter break parity by stripping opponents of their hands and battlefield assets while placing those permanents directly onto your battlefield. The resulting board lock chokes opponents out of mana and interaction, allowing you to close the game through combat damage with stolen creatures, repeated activations of Tergrid's Lantern, or a massive Torment of Hailfire. The list also features a compact two-card backup win condition via Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog. While devastating against resource-dependent decks, it is vulnerable to targeted removal pointed at Tergrid prior to trigger resolution and lacks stack interaction against fast combo.
