Commander: The Emperor of Palamecia // The Lord Master of Hell

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a low-to-the-ground Izzet spells deck built around flipping The Emperor of Palamecia into The Lord Master of Hell. Early on, the front face acts as a one-mana Izzet ritual restricted to noncreature spells, helping the deck power out 4+ mana instants, sorceries, Rooms, and artifacts ahead of curve. Every such spell also puts a +1/+1 counter on the Emperor; once he has three counters he transforms, and the demon's Starfall trigger deals X damage to each opponent, where X is the number of noncreature, nonland cards in the graveyard. The game plan is to transform quickly, then use draw/loot spells and extra big sorceries to fill the graveyard while attacking every turn. Repeated Starfall triggers stack cumulative damage across the whole table. The deck backs this up with an unusually dense instant-speed interaction suite, a few value creatures like Muse Seeker and Prompto Argentum, and moderate mana rock acceleration. There are no infinite combos; the win is attritional burn plus occasional double-strike combat damage.
