Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug and attrition strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary game plan revolves around deploying cheap, passive life-loss pieces such as Razorkin Needlehead, Ankh of Mishra, and Kederekt Parasite that trigger during opponents' turns. When opponents lose life on their turns, Valgavoth grows into a massive flying threat while drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle. The deck transitions into the midgame by compounding this attrition with damage multipliers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Twinflame Tyrant, and Fiery Emancipation, along with heavy punishment pieces like Painful Quandary and Polluted Bonds. Combat disruption tools including Kardur, Doomscourge and Disrupt Decorum force opponents to attack each other, whittling down life totals while protecting your board. Supported by free interaction and robust equipment shielding, the deck consistently closes out games around Turn 7.
