Smaug by user2442036

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This mono-red Treasure deck uses Smaug the Magnificent as both commander and payoff. Smaug's upkeep Treasure smooths mana, and his haste attack lets him immediately convert the number of Treasures you control into direct damage. The primary plan is to generate a critical mass of Treasure tokens, then close with a large Smaug trigger (often tripled by Fiery Emancipation) or with the artifact-count alternate wins in Hellkite Tyrant and Knuckles the Echidna. Secondary dragons such as Goldspan Dragon and Xorn multiply both Treasure production and mana. There is no hidden commander; There and Back Again simply provides a backup Smaug-style token that can generate fourteen Treasures when it dies.
