Deck overview

This competitive Izzet deck is commanded by Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph, an aggressive burn and control engine that triples every source of 1 damage into 3 damage. The list leverages an extensive density of low-cost pingers, such as Firebrand Archer and Kessig Flamebreather, turning every cheap cantrip into a multi-target lightning strike against all three opponents simultaneously. Cheap sweepers like End the Festivities and Blazing Volley act as one-sided board wipes for a single red mana. Backed by format-ceiling fast mana, free counterspells, and draw engines like Rhystic Study and The One Ring, the deck rapidly pressures life totals on Turn 4 and closes the game on Turn 5. If Ghyrson is answered or prevented from landing, the deck pivots cleanly into an Underworld Breach, Lion's Eye Diamond, and Brain Freeze storm win line with minimal delay.
