Watcher in the Water by Kainler

Commander: The Watcher in the Water

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a mono-blue draw-matters sea-monster deck built around The Watcher in the Water. The commander enters tapped with nine stun counters, so the entire early game is engineered around drawing on opponents' turns to create 1/1 Tentacles, then sacrificing those Tentacles to untap the Watcher and tax opposing permanents with stun counters. The deck plays a draw-go/control hybrid: instant-speed draw, tax effects, and convoke spells keep the hand full while payoffs like Nadir Kraken, Chasm Skulker, Ominous Seas, and Spawning Kraken convert every draw into an army. The main finish lines are a massive Blue Sun's Zenith/Pull from Tomorrow with Psychosis Crawler to drain the table, a Laboratory Maniac kill off the same huge draw, and midrange Kraken beatdown. With essentially no tutors, the deck relies on raw draw density rather than guaranteed assembly.
