Deck overview

This Esper list leverages The Ur-Sphinx as a tribal midrange engine. From the command zone, the Eminence ability permanently reduces the cost of all Sphinx spells, allowing the deck to deploy large, evasive flying threats ahead of schedule. Supported by format-ceiling fast mana and an elite suite of free countermagic and removal, the deck quickly establishes commanding card advantage through engines like Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign and Consecrated Sphinx. The offensive plan centers on presenting overwhelming aerial pressure, utilizing Magister Sphinx to bypass high life totals and Kindred Dominance or overloaded Cyclonic Rift to clear opposing boards. Opponents are kept off balance by powerful tax pieces such as Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe, while Teferi, Time Raveler and Teferi's Protection ensure critical turns remain insulated from enemy interaction. The deck closes games reliably across three combat steps by Turn 7.
