Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Sphinx tribal midrange strategy built around The Ur-Sphinx. In the opening turns, the deck deploys efficient artifact acceleration and cheap filtering to curve into mid-cost utility Sphinxes ahead of schedule. The Eminence ability provides an uninterruptible cost reduction from the command zone, smoothing out the deck's naturally heavy mana curve. By turns 4 and 5, the deck establishes card advantage engines through creatures like Defiler of Dreams and Consecrated Sphinx. The strategy shifts into high gear around turn 6 by casting The Ur-Sphinx or game-warping bombs like Magister Sphinx and Expropriate. Once established, the deck applies severe pressure through combat, milling opponents and casting their spells for free with the commander's attack trigger. It seals the victory on turn 8 through overwhelming aerial damage backed by Akroma's Will.
