Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan toughness-matters aggro and midrange build piloted by Doran, Besieged by Time. The strategy turns cheap, defensive creatures with low power and high toughness into devastating offensive threats. Doran provides immediate mana acceleration by reducing the cost of high-toughness creature spells by {1}, while granting attacking and blocking creatures a massive stat boost equal to the difference between their power and toughness. Backed by redundant toughness-assigning effects like Doran, the Siege Tower, Assault Formation, and Ancient Lumberknot, the deck attacks for substantial combat damage starting around turn 4 to 5. It leverages one-sided board wipes like Slaughter the Strong, Retribution of the Meek, and Fell the Mighty to clear opposing boards while keeping its own low-power army intact. Protection pieces like Bedrock Tortoise and Akroma's Will ensure the board survives to close out the game by turn 8.
