Deck overview

This Gruul aggressive deck is helmed by the partner pairing of Michelangelo, the Heart and Raphael, the Muscle. The strategy establishes early battlefield momentum by curving Michelangelo on Turn 2, attacking on Turn 3 to trigger Raid for +1/+1 counters and Food tokens, and ramping into Raphael on Turn 4 or 5. Raphael immediately doubles all damage dealt by creatures with counters, transforming modest attackers into lethal trample threats. The 99 amplifies this plan through counter enhancers like Hardened Scales, Ozolith, the Shattered Spire, and Ouroboroid, alongside damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation and City on Fire. Extra combat steps from Karlach, Fury of Avernus, Anzrag, the Quake-Mole, and an infinite combat loop with Aggravated Assault and Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient provide closing speed. While the deck boasts high physical resilience via The Ozolith and Heroic Intervention, its reactive interaction suite is sparse, demanding proactive, high-tempo aggression to overwhelm opponents before they assemble faster uninterruptible combos.
