Gadwick (Tap and Untap) by AceHole

Format: Commander

Commander: Gadwick, the Wizened

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-blue Wizard tribal/tap-control deck helmed by Gadwick, the Wizened, who doubles as a burst draw engine (X cards on ETB) and a repeatable tap-down piece (every blue spell taps a nonland permanent). The primary game plan is to grind out card advantage through a dense suite of cantrips, draw engines, and tap/untap synergies - Verity Circle, Niblis of Frost, Retreat to Coralhelm, and Kefnet's Monument all reward the deck's core action of tapping opposing permanents - then convert that advantage into a combo finish. The main kill is infinite mana (Aphetto Alchemist + Sol Ring, or Dramatic Reversal + rocks) feeding a huge Gadwick X-draw into Laboratory Maniac, with backup wins in Blue Sun's Zenith decking, Triskaidekaphile, Psychosis Crawler, and The Millennium Calendar. It plays a patient, controlling game that wins through a single assembled engine rather than combat.
