Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a dedicated Snake tribal strategy led by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer. The primary game plan deploys cheap Snake creatures and utilizes Aphelia's combat attack trigger to steadily build a swarm of 1/1 deathtouch Snake tokens. Once the mana base reaches five to six mana, the deck activates Aphelia's {4}{B} ability, causing each player dealt combat damage by Gorgons or Snakes to lose half their life, rounded up. Supported by tribal lords such as Seshiro the Anointed and attrition pieces like Hooded Blightfang, the deck seeks to dismantle opposing life totals over two to three combat swings. The deck benefits from strong early mana ramp and quick commander assembly, but it features very little interactive removal or stack protection, leaving its board state vulnerable to opposing sweepers and faster combo plans.
