Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is commanded by Braids, Arisen Nightmare, focusing on converting cheap, disposable permanents into overwhelming card advantage and steady life drain. The deck curves out with low-cost artifacts and creatures like Ichor Wellspring, Mephitic Draught, and Shambling Ghast, sacrificing them to Braids on Turn 3 to draw cards and tax opponents. As the game develops, asymmetric discard from Burglar Rat and continuous edicts from Plaguecrafter and Fleshbag Marauder deplete enemy resources. The primary win condition relies on drain engines including Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and high-devotion bursts from Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck excels at grinding down opposing boards and refilling its hand, it relies heavily on sorcery-speed creature interaction and lacks stack-based interaction or dedicated instant-speed protection.
