Hakbal Merfolk by BlackMageEW

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Simic Merfolk exploration deck built around Hakbal of the Surging Soul. Every combat triggers one explore per Merfolk, growing +1/+1 counters while Hakbal's attack trigger accelerates lands from hand. The primary plan is to snowball a wide counter-laden board and finish with unblockable combat via Herald of Secret Streams, Deepchannel Mentor, or islandwalk lords. Secondary plans are a hexproof token army from Deeproot Waters and Deeproot Pilgrimage, plus a Simic Ascendancy counter win. Hakbal is the sole engine; there is no double-faced or hidden commander. The deck is a midrange, board-state snowball that protects its commander and counter pile, then turns the team sideways.
