Deck overview

This Simic midrange deck uses Volo, Guide to Monsters to double every creature spell cast from hand, provided that creature shares no types with cards on the battlefield or in the graveyard. Built with an anti-tribal singleton creature spread across 37 creatures and 30 distinct types, the deck reliably triggers Volo on nearly every cast. Dense 1-to-2 CMC ramp lets you cast Volo on Turn 3 and immediately begin duplicating value creatures on Turn 4. The deck draws cards in large bursts through doubled Mulldrifter, Curiosity Crafter, and Return of the Wildspeaker, while controlling the board using doubled Amphin Mutineer, Acidic Slime, and Junk Winder. It closes games by Turn 8 through wide trampling combat waves powered by End-Raze Forerunners, Loyal Guardian, and Murkfiend Liege. Flash creatures such as Void Grafter and Scuttling Sentinel provide instant-speed hexproof protection that simultaneously triggers Volo's duplication ability.
