Deck overview

This deck is built around Kona, Rescue Beastie to cheat game-ending permanents into play as early as Turn 3. The strategy uses a dense package of 1-mana ramp spells and free tap enablers, such as Springleaf Drum, Jaspera Sentinel, and Survivors' Encampment. These enablers allow Kona to tap safely without risking combat damage, triggering Kona's Survival ability at the beginning of the second main phase. From there, the deck puts massive threats onto the battlefield, including Portal to Phyrexia, Void Winnower, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, and Blightsteel Colossus. Once these game-warping permanents land, the deck overwhelms the table through asymmetric stax, heavy attrition, and massive trampling combat damage supported by Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus and Vaultborn Tyrant. Backup lines such as Natural Order and Smuggler's Surprise ensure the deck can deploy its heavy hitters even if the commander is contested.
