Defender by Sachrock

Format: Commander

Commander: Arcades, the Strategist

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a classic "walls matter" defender-tribal build helmed by Arcades, the Strategist, whose three abilities form the deck's engine: every defender that enters draws a card, every defender attacks as though it lacked defender, and every defender assigns combat damage equal to its toughness. The deck floods the board with high-toughness walls, converts them into both card advantage and an unblockable-by-size army, and finishes through a single massive combat step or an infect overrun. Backup enablers Assault Formation and High Alert replicate Arcades' key text, while The Pride of Hull Clade, Towering Titan, and Last March of the Ents turn raw toughness into draw and board presence. The primary win is combat damage from a wide board of 0/6-0/13 walls swinging for their toughness, with Triumph of the Hordes as a compact alternate kill. It is a midrange value deck that grinds card advantage through its commander and wins through inevitability rather than a fast combo.
