Deck overview

This Esper deck leverages The Ur-Sphinx's eminence ability to accelerate a potent Sphinx tribal control engine. In the early game, it builds mana velocity using efficient artifacts, cost-reducers, and passive card-draw pieces such as Esper Sentinel and Rhystic Study. By Turn 4, the deck deploys anchor engines like Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign or Urza's Incubator, reducing Sphinx casting costs by up to three mana and chaining mini Fact or Fiction triggers across consecutive casts. In the midgame, it transitions into critical threat onset by resolving Conspiracy Unraveler, Consecrated Sphinx, or Sphinx of the Second Sun, while chaining extra-turn sorceries like Time Warp, Temporal Manipulation, and Expropriate. High-tier free countermagic (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship) and proactive stax pieces (Grand Abolisher, Teferi, Time Raveler) protect the board until lethal aerial combat eliminates all opponents.
