Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Simic combo shell led by Grolnok, the Omnivore. It uses self-mill mechanics to turn its library into an extended hand via croak counters. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with low-cost mana dorks and land ramp to cast Grolnok on Turn 3. On Turn 4, the deck seeks to assemble infinite self-mill combos such as Cephalid Illusionist with Shuko, or Basalt Monolith with Mesmeric Orb. Milling the entire library exiles all permanents with croak counters, allowing the deck to immediately cast Thassa's Oracle, Laboratory Maniac, or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries for an instant same-turn win. The list supports its core combo with targeted tutors, cheap cantrips, a robust counterspell suite, and efficient protection spells that shield key permanents during execution windows.
