Deck overview

This deck executes an aggressive Rakdos Voltron strategy centered around The Balrog, Durin's Bane. By leveraging early Treasure generation, fetchlands, and cheap artifacts, the deck exploits the commander's sacrifice-based cost reduction to cast a 7/5 hasty, pseudo-unblockable threat as early as Turn 3 for just two mana. Once on board, lethal combat enhancers such as Two-Handed Axe // Sweeping Cleave, Embercleave, and The Reaver Cleaver escalate damage output to eliminate opponents in one or two hits. A secondary infinite combat line with Aggravated Assault provides a compact win condition when paired with heavy Treasure producers. The deck sustains its velocity through card advantage engines like Black Market Connections and Prosper, Tome-Bound, while maintaining a robust suite of board wipes to keep opposing battlefields clear.
