Deck overview

This Golgari midrange deck leverages The Serpent Society to turn cheap deathtouch creatures into potent defensive deterrents and asymmetric attrition engines. Opponents face painful ward penalties of five poison counters when targeting the commander, while trading in combat forces each opponent to sacrifice nontoken creatures. Offensively, the deck accelerates into aggressive poison carriers such as Phyrexian Crusader, Putrefax, and Spinebiter. By combining continuous ground suppression with combat tricks and mass pump effects like Overrun, the deck steadily pressures opponents' life totals and poison thresholds. The game plan focuses on establishing early board control through superior trades, softening enemy boards with forced sacrifices, and closing out the game with lethal infect strikes.
