Deck overview

This deck is an Esper spellslinger control and burn strategy led by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The game plan revolves around casting noncreature spells with a mana value of 3 or greater to repeatedly trigger Y'shtola, dealing 2 damage to each opponent, gaining 2 life, and drawing extra cards on end steps when life loss thresholds are met. Cost reducers such as Geist of Saint Thalia, Lyse Hext, and Stenn, Paranoid Partisan reduce the casting cost of these spells while maintaining their printed mana value on the stack, accelerating the engine. The deck defends itself using pillowfort enchantments like Propaganda and Ghostly Prison, paired with versatile removal like Void Rend and Farewell. It sustains card advantage through high-velocity draw spells and engines like Curiosity and Well of Lost Dreams. The primary route to victory is resolving Approach of the Second Sun, quickly digging to recast it, or closing out through sustained burn and life-drain effects.
