Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan landfall midrange strategy commanded by Thalia and The Gitrog Monster. The primary game plan accelerates mana by playing multiple lands per turn and recurring them from the graveyard using Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, and Six. The commander creates substantial asymmetric friction by forcing all opposing creatures and nonbasic lands to enter the battlefield tapped, slowing down opposing curves and eliminating haste threats while providing card draw through attack sacrifice triggers. In the mid-game, the deck converts repeated land drops into an overwhelming board presence using token generators such as Scute Swarm, Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer, and Avenger of Zendikar. After assembling a wide token board on Turn 6, the deck closes out the game on Turn 7 by tutoring or casting Craterhoof Behemoth for a lethal trample overrun across all three opponents. Powerful recursion spells like Living Death and Lumra, Bellow of the Woods ensure rapid recovery after board wipes.
