Deck overview

Kaalia of the Vast anchors this Mardu deck as a cheat-into-play engine. The primary plan is to survive to turn 4-5, cast Kaalia, then attack each turn to put an Angel, Demon, or Dragon into play for free. Secondary paths include hardcasting high-power flyers and finishing with direct-damage triggers from Drakuseth, Bogardan Hellkite, and Demanding Dragon. The commander's role is indispensable: without her attack trigger, the deck is a slow midrange pile. There is no hidden commander in the 99, though Rune-Scarred Demon can tutor for Scourge of the Throne to create extra combat phases.
