Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is a synergistic tribal swarm list helmed by Rat King, Verminister. Built around 18 copies of Rat Colony, the deck leverages extreme functional redundancy to rapidly build high-power boards where each Rat buffs every other Rat. Cost reducers such as Jet Medallion, Bontu's Monument, and Herald's Horn allow multiple Rats to be deployed in a single turn. The deck's primary explosive win condition is Thrumming Stone, which utilizes Ripple 4 to cascade through the library and dump nearly every Rat Colony onto the battlefield in a single turn. Evasion and finisher support come from Marrow-Gnawer, Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Eldrazi Monument, and Valley Rotcaller. If the board is cleared, Echoing Return and the commander's ability to mass-reanimate cards with identical names ensure swift recovery, presenting lethal combat pressure by Turn 6.
