Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan Toughness-Matters combat engine commanded by Doran, Besieged by Time. The strategy leverages creatures with disproportionately high toughness to maximize mana efficiency and combat power. Early ramp enables a Turn 3 commander cast, unlocking cost reductions that accelerate bulky threats like Indomitable Ancients and Bedrock Tortoise onto the battlefield. In combat, Doran's triggered ability scales attacking creatures by the difference between their power and toughness, turning inexpensive defensive bodies into lethal attackers. The deck breaks parity through asymmetric board wipes such as Slaughter the Strong and Wave of Reckoning, which wipe opposing boards while leaving your low-power creatures unharmed. Finishers like Akroma's Will and Tower Defense push overwhelming combat damage across all three opponents. Resilient redundancy across the 99 ensures the game plan continues even through targeted removal.
