Deck overview

This Golgari deck is built around Blech, Loafing Pest, combining token generation, lifegain triggers, and aristocrat drain into an aggressive midrange strategy. The early game focuses on establishing token engines like Ophiomancer, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Lluwen, Exchange Student before casting Blech, Loafing Pest on Turn 3 or 4. Each instance of lifegain—whether from Pest death triggers, lifelink attacks, or sacrifice outlets—distributes +1/+1 counters across your swarming Pests, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. As the board expands, heavy hitters such as Beledros Witherbloom, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, and Blossoming Bogbeast convert this wide board into lethal combat damage, while drain pieces like Blood Artist, Dina, Soul Steeper, and Cauldron of Essence burn out the table. The deck recovers efficiently from removal through extensive graveyard recursion, although it remains susceptible to exile board wipes due to light countermagic and shielding.
