Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black aristocrats and reanimator strategy helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. It establishes early board presence through low-cost sacrifice fodder and ramp, then transitions into high-velocity engines powered by Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Warren Soultrader, and Skullclamp. Rather than relying on fast infinite combos, the deck grinds down opposing life totals and resources through drain staples like Blood Artist, Marionette Apprentice, and Bastion of Remembrance. In the mid-to-late game, mass reanimation from Living Death, devastating devotion swings from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and card advantage from Bolas's Citadel overwhelm the table. Avacyn, Angel of Horror acts as an asymmetric attrition multiplier, returning all sacrificed nontoken creatures at each end step to lock out opponents through repeated edicts.
