Black Mage Kaboom by Ripped-Ritual

Format: Commander

Commander: Vivi Ornitier

Bracket: 5

DeckCheck Threat Index: 80

Deck overview

This cEDH deck leverages Vivi Ornitier as a lethal mana engine and storm payoff. With a base power of 0, Vivi converts noncreature casts into +1/+1 counters while pinging each opponent for 1 damage. When enchanted with Curiosity or Ophidian Eye, each noncreature spell triggers three separate card draws, fueling continuous velocity through rituals and low-cost spells. The deck closes games cleanly via Isochron Scepter imprinting Dramatic Reversal, which provides infinite casts and triggers Vivi for lethal burn across all opponents. Alternatively, it executes the format-defining Underworld Breach and Brain Freeze line to self-mill and achieve victory with Thassa's Oracle. Defensively, the list is fortified with top-tier countermagic and anti-interaction pieces like Hexing Squelcher and Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun, ensuring its explosive combo turns resolve through opposing disruption.
