Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir mill and exile attrition strategy led by Umbris, Fear Manifest. The deck capitalizes on filling the exile zone and graveyards to pump Umbris into a lethal combat threat while simultaneously threatening library depletion. High creature toughness and planeswalker support like Phenax, God of Deception and various Ashiok incarnations provide diverse mill angles. The deck relies heavily on passive resource friction from cards like Leyline of the Void and Ashiok, Dream Render to prevent opponents from utilizing graveyard recursion or search spells. Because it lacks instant-speed interaction and countermagic, the deck focuses on proactively developing its board, capitalizing on mass mill spells like Traumatize and Cut Your Losses, and closing games through overwhelming commander damage or total library exhaustion.
