Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Stax and Pillowfort control build commanded by Oloro, Ageless Ascetic. Rather than racing to a fast proactive win, the deck leverages Oloro's passive eminence ability to gain two life every upkeep, creating a durable life buffer that offsets early aggression and breaks parity on symmetrical stalls. The core strategy revolves around establishing multi-layered taxing and restriction pieces—such as Rule of Law, Arcane Laboratory, Aura of Silence, and Ghostly Prison—to throttle opposing spell velocity and shut down creature combat. Once the board is stabilized through uncounterable sweepers like Supreme Verdict and spot removal, the deck transitions into its inevitability phase. It secures victory through Approach of the Second Sun, an unyielding Knowledge Pool hard lock paired with Teferi or Rule of Law, or an infinite extra-turn engine using Thopter Assembly and Time Sieve. High redundancy in defensive pieces makes this deck exceptionally resilient against creature-based strategies.
