Chishiro, The Shattered Blade by Dariandrephos

Format: Commander

Commander: Chishiro, the Shattered Blade

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Gruul deck, helmed by Chishiro, the Shattered Blade, is a modified-matters strategy that marries +1/+1 counters with a token engine. The commander creates a 2/2 Spirit token each time an Aura or Equipment enters, and at end step puts a +1/+1 counter on each modified creature. The deck's primary game plan is to deploy cheap Auras and Equipment to quickly build an army of spirit tokens, then use counter synergies (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution) to grow threats explosively. Win conditions include the infinite combat loop of Aggravated Assault plus Bear Umbra (untapping lands on attack), Triumph of the Hordes for infect, or simply overwhelming trample damage via Overwhelming Stampede or Pathbreaker Ibex. The deck is aggressive but linear, relying on combat and a narrow combo to finish.
