Deck overview

This deck is a classic mono-black Zombie tribal and sacrifice engine led by Ghoulcaller Gisa. The primary strategy focuses on deploying resilient Zombie creatures and mana rocks during the early turns, establishing Gisa on Turn 5, and leveraging her activated ability on Turn 6 to convert high-power creatures into wide armies of 2/2 Zombie tokens. Once a token army is established, anthem lords such as Death Baron, Lord of the Undead, and Undead Warchief turn the board into a lethal combat force, while aristocrat payoffs like Ayara, First of Locthwain, Vengeful Dead, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel drain opposing life totals. The deck features strong recursion and steady card draw through graveyard synergies, but it relies heavily on combat and lacks dedicated protection spells, making careful timing of its commander essential against removal-heavy pods.
