Deck overview

This deck is a focused Gruul combat strategy built around Anzrag, the Quake-Mole. The primary game plan accelerates mana on Turns 1 and 2 using a dense suite of low-cost mana dorks and land enchantments, deploying Anzrag on Turn 3. On Turn 4, the deck initiates critical onset by equipping haste or casting protection and forced-block effects such as Roar of Challenge, Lure, or Overprotect. When opponents block Anzrag's massive 8-power frame, Anzrag untaps all attacking creatures and generates an additional combat phase. This enables the deck to wipe out defending creatures across sequential combats, deal lethal commander damage, and swing wide with secondary beaters like Xenagos, God of Revels and Moraug, Fury of Akoum.
