Explorers of the Deep by user5593844

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

An aggressive Merfolk value deck built around Hakbal's start-of-combat explore trigger. Every Merfolk explores on each combat, converting library hits into lands and +1/+1 counters; Hakbal's attack trigger then turns those lands into battlefield development or extra cards. The primary path is unblockable combat damage, using Herald of Secret Streams and islandwalk lords to convert a counter-heavy board into a fast kill. Simic Ascendancy provides a parallel counter-based win, while Deeproot Waters and Reflections of Littjara keep the board wide. The deck curves into a T3 Hakbal, then out-values opponents through exploration. Tatyova, Zegana, and Kindred Discovery support the draw engine; protection is spell-based.
