Athreos by user6848170

Format: Commander

Commander: Athreos, God of Passage

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Athreos, God of Passage leads a Shadowborn Apostle swarm that converts six Clerics into Demons, then drains the table with death triggers. The deck's primary plan is to flood the board with Apostles, use Athreos to tax or recur them, and tutor up Demons like Rune-Scarred Demon, Harvester of Souls, or Valgavoth, Terror Eater. Secondary paths include Bolas's Citadel life-pay card advantage, drain-engine aristocrats like Zulaport Cutthroat and Cruel Celebrant, and a recursion package that returns mass Apostles. The commander is a repeatable recursion engine rather than a finisher; the deck can still function without him, but his tax and return trigger greatly accelerate the swarm plan.
