Deck overview

This deck is an Esper discard-reanimator strategy commanded by Hashaton, Scarab's Fist. Hashaton converts discarded creature cards into 4/4 black Zombie token copies for {2}{U}. The deck utilizes cheap looters, discard outlets, and tutors like Buried Alive to pitch game-ending threats including Archon of Cruelty, Ashen Rider, Sphinx of the Second Sun, and Archfiend of Ifnir. Once deployed as 4/4 tokens, these creatures generate overwhelming enters-the-battlefield value, sweep opposing creatures via -1/-1 counters, and strip opposing hands. Low-cost bodyguards such as Skrelv, Defector Mite and Benevolent Bodyguard protect Hashaton during setup without taxing mana on crucial activation turns. Backup reanimation spells like Persist, Victimize, and The Scarab God ensure the deck functions smoothly even if the commander is removed.
