Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck leverages sacrifice outlets, recurring creatures, and death-trigger drains to control the board and win the game. Commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, the deck can use its commander as an 8/8 flying finisher and end-step mass reanimator, though its core game plan functions independently of the command zone. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with artifacts like Sol Ring and Chrome Mox, deploying card draw engines such as Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and keeping opposing creature boards clear with repeatable edict creatures like Plaguecrafter. The primary win condition is an infinite life-drain loop utilizing Gravecrawler, Phyrexian Altar, a supporting Zombie, and a drain payoff like Blood Artist or Bastion of Remembrance. Backup lines rely on explosive devotion drain with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Saw in Half, or card-churning lethality through Bolas's Citadel.
