Deck overview

This competitive Izzet deck combines explosive mana acceleration, premium stack interaction, and compact infinite combat and copy combos. Led by Karlach, Fury of Avernus and Sword Coast Sailor, the deck leverages its low-cost Background commander to turn on free protection spells like Deflecting Swat and Fierce Guardianship as early as turn two. It builds card advantage and mana through format staples like Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, The One Ring, and Dockside Extortionist. Rather than grinding through traditional combat steps, the primary plan rapidly tutors and executes compact two-card combos, notably Dualcaster Mage paired with Twinflame or Heat Shimmer, Godo, Bandit Warlord fetching Helm of the Host, and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker copying Zealous Conscripts or Combat Celebrant. With resilient graveyard recursion from Underworld Breach and a dense counterspell suite, the deck can reliably threaten protected same-turn table kills by turn four.
