Early turns focus on deploying mill engines such as Ruin Crab, Mesmeric Orb, and Mindcrank to trigger Mothman's counter distribution and disrupt opponent game plans. The deck transitions into the midgame by stealing or recurring milled threats via The Master, Transcendent, Muldrotha, the Gravetide, and Reanimate.
