Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir cheat and tempo strategy built around Satoru Umezawa. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap, evasive creatures like Slither Blade, Triton Shorestalker, and Ornithopter on early turns, then casting Satoru on Turn 3. On Turn 4, an unblocked attacker triggers Satoru's ninjutsu grant, swapping in high-impact monstrosities such as Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Ulamog's Crusher, Ancient Stone Idol, and Artisan of Kozilek for only four mana ({2}{U}{B}). Satoru’s pseudo-Anticipate trigger replenishes your hand with additional threats and interaction each combat. While the deck lacks fast mana and compact infinite combos, it establishes massive board presence and asymmetric attrition ahead of curve. Opponents are pressured through heavy combat damage and sacrifice triggers, eventually closing the game around Turn 8. The deck is vulnerable to targeted removal aimed at Satoru before combat, but dense redundancy among both evasive enablers and high-cost payoffs ensures consistent execution across games.
