Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Izzet spellslinger deck is built around Alania, Divergent Storm, who copies the first instant, first sorcery, and first Otter spell each turn at the cost of letting an opponent draw a card. The deck leverages a dense suite of cheap instants and sorceries to trigger prowess, magecraft, and damage-dealing permanents like Guttersnipe and Coruscation Mage. It also includes a powerful mill subtheme via Maddening Cacophony and Fractured Sanity. The primary win condition is direct damage-either incremental pings from otters and burn spells or massive burst spells like Crackle with Power and Comet Storm-while mill offers an alternative angle. The deck is highly synergistic, with multiple copy effects (Veyran, Voice of Duality, Twinning Staff, Kitsa, Otterball Elite) to multiply value.
