Deck overview

This Grixis spellslinger deck leverages Fire Lord Azula to convert combat steps into explosive card advantage and mana generation. By attacking with Azula, the deck triggers firebending 2 to produce {R}{R} and duplicates every spell cast during combat. The core game plan pairs early two-mana ramp artifacts with flash enablers like Leyline of Anticipation and Borne Upon a Wind, allowing sorceries to be cast and doubled during the declare attackers step. Mid-game engines such as Storm-Kiln Artist, Ashling, Flame Dancer, and Veyran, Voice of Duality rapidly translate duplicated spells into overwhelming Treasure counts and hand refills. Once sufficient mana velocity is established, the deck pivots into game-ending burn through copied finishers including Crackle with Power, Exsanguinate, and Comet Storm. Efficient interaction, protective equipment like Winged Boots, and targeted redirection effects shield the commander from opposing disruption while the deck builds toward its decisive storm turn.
