Deck overview

This mono-black deck runs Marrow-Gnawer as a tribal swarm and combo engine. It develops early board presence using low-cost Rat creatures, mana ramp artifacts, and utility enchantments. Midgame turns leverage mono-black mana doublers like Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Bubbling Muck to deploy high-impact threats. The primary win condition revolves around equipping Marrow-Gnawer with Thornbite Staff. With at least two other Rats on the battlefield, sacrificing a Rat untaps Marrow-Gnawer upon death, producing an exponentially growing swarm of 1/1 black Rat tokens. Because Marrow-Gnawer grants all Rats fear, this army easily bypasses most nonblack, nonartifact blockers on the following turn.
