Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari Graveyard and Aristocrats strategy led by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. The primary game plan revolves around filling the graveyard with high-utility creatures, sacrificing them for value, and using Meren to recur them every turn cycle. Early turns focus on ramping and deploying self-sacrificing creatures like Sakura-Tribe Elder and Accursed Marauder to accumulate experience counters. In the midgame, the deck establishes oppressive creature attrition by looping sacrifice triggers with Plaguecrafter and Sheoldred, Whispering One. To close out the game, the deck transitions into devastating drain loops using Kokusho, the Evening Star, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Because experience counters remain on the player even if Meren dies, the engine recovers rapidly from board wipes, making it an exceptionally resilient mid-power attrition deck.
