Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Simic tempo and Voltron deck led by Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief. The game plan pairs Ivy with cheap, evasive, or hexproof non-Human creatures—such as Slippery Bogle, Birds of Paradise, and Venomthrope. Whenever a player casts a single-target Aura, Mutate spell, or combat buff targeting the secondary creature, Ivy copies that spell onto herself for free. This doubles the stat gains, combat triggers, and card draw from cards like Curiosity, Ancestral Mask, and Sea-Dasher Octopus. Mutate creatures create separate mutating stacks that trigger on both permanents, rapidly escalating board presence. The deck maintains tempo by holding up efficient one-mana counterspells and instant-speed protection spells that duplicate across both key creatures. With doubled power growth and built-in evasion, the deck applies severe pressure by Turn 5 and methodically closes out the table with combat damage by Turn 7.
