Volo - Haunted One by user8704057

Format: Commander

Commander: Haunted One and Volo, Itinerant Scholar

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Dimir changeling/typal engine deck. Volo, Itinerant Scholar creates a hexproof Journal artifact token that draws cards based on creature types you note as you cast creatures, while the Haunted One background turns every Volo tap into a team-wide +2/+0 and undying buff. The primary game plan is to resolve Maskwood Nexus or otherwise rely on changelings so that every creature and creature spell has every creature type, unlocking Rooftop Storm, Kindred Discovery, Reflections of Littjara, Coat of Arms, Faces of the Past, and Pyre of Heroes as universal payoffs. Wins come from evasive, widely pumped combat and from Syr Konrad, the Grim drain during the deck's frequent death/recursion exchanges. This is a midrange value deck with strong recursion and one-sided wipes, but no deterministic infinite combo line.
