Deck overview

Auntie Ool, Cursewretch helms a synergistic Jund midrange deck focused on -1/-1 counter distribution, creature suppression, and asymmetric attrition. The game plan centers on deploying early ramp to cast Auntie Ool on Turn 4, followed by deploying repeatable counter engines that simultaneously draw cards from friendly blights and drain opponents as their creatures wither. By Turns 5 and 6, powerful board-controllers like Carnifex Demon, Midnight Banshee, and Kulrath Knight dismantle opposing creature boards and establish an oppressive combat lock. Token producers such as Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Flourishing Defenses convert every distributed counter into an expanding army. The deck also possesses an infinite creature-death loop in Blowfly Infestation paired with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. While the deck boasts immense board control and card velocity, its reliance on permanent-based engines and lack of stack interaction make it vulnerable to noncreature combo decks and exile sweepers.
