Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Izzet discard-tempo strategy built around Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. It leverages cheap, evasive creatures and efficient acceleration to establish board presence early. Once Captain Howler resolves, wheel effects such as Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, and Echo of Eons convert hand refuels into massive power boosts, allowing the commander or unblockable threats to deal lethal combat damage in single attacks. The deck protects its proactive turns with top-tier free and low-cost interaction, including Deflecting Swat, Fierce Guardianship, and Force of Will. When combat paths face heavy resistance, the deck pivots smoothly into direct damage engines via Brallin, Skyshark Rider, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, and the recursive power of Underworld Breach, ensuring rapid table finishes with minimal setup delay.
