Deck overview

The deck ramps toward Koma, World-Eater, then uses its uncounterability, ward, trample, and combat trigger to build a board of Koma's Coil tokens. Creature ramp from Sol Ring, mana Elves, Fanatic of Rhonas, Somberwald Sage, and Cryptolith Rite gives the plan reasonable acceleration. The deck also has strong thematic payoffs: Coastal Piracy, Elemental Bond, Tatyova, Benthic Druid, Garruk's Uprising, and Curiosity Crafter can turn large creatures and tokens into cards. Its main problem is conversion. The first Koma, World-Eater attack is a credible threat around turn 7, but the list does not reliably provide haste, evasion, protection, or enough damage to eliminate three players. Tutors are concentrated on creatures and do not assemble all required roles. Interaction is serviceable but competes with development, so the deck is strongest in slower tables where repeated combat turns are available.
